Ryan Gosling thanks wife Eva Mendes in heartwarming Golden Globes speech after winning best actor

Ryan Gosling's acceptance speech at the Golden Globes was music to viewers' ears.


The "La La Land" star endearingly devoted the bulk of his acceptance speech for best actor in a musical or comedy to thanking his wife Eva Mendes for all of her support and sacrifice so he could take on the illustrious role.

"While I was singing and dancing and playing piano and having one of the best experiences I've ever had on a film, my lady was raising our daughter, pregnant with our second and trying to help her brother fight his battle with cancer," Gosling told the audience.

"If she hadn't taken all that on so I could have this experience, it would surely be someone else up here other than me," he continued. "So sweetheart, thank you."

He then dedicated the award to Mendes' late brother Juan Carlos Mendez, who died at 53 last April following a lengthy battle with the disease.

La La Land" led all entries with seven nominations at the Golden Globes. It addition to Gosling's win, the feel-good musical has already taken home honors for best original score, best original song for "City of Stars" and best screenplay.
